![]() One is power to the mount, one is power from the mount to the Air and the third is USB from the Air to the mount. ![]() Since I am using an iOpton GEM 45, the Air gets power from the mount so I have three cables to deal with for setup and take down. Station Mode is 2.4gHz, AP mode is selectable 2.4 or 5gHz. ![]() The Air has 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 4 +12 volt outputs, 1 USB C port, SD card slot, DSLR shutter port, Ethernet port, and dual band WiFi. I have full control of the mount, dew heaters, filter wheel, focuser and cameras. I can also connect a Windows 10 or 11 PC by using the BlueStacks Android emulator. There are no desktop sharing hoops to jump through and I can connect up to 3 Android or IOS devices to the Air. This is exactly how I connect to my ASI Air Plus. The device is visible on the network so you can connect to it through a browser or a dedicated software application. The beauty of this is when a "Station" joins an existing network it gets a unique IP address. The difference between Hot Spot/Access Point and Station Mode is the first two modes PROVIDE network connectivity where a device in Station Mode joins an existing network much like a wireless printer does. IMHO, a much better option for connecting to and controlling a telescope remotely is through a device that is connected to a WiFi network via Station Mode. The difference is, devices connected to a Hot Spot cannot "see" each other where devices connected to an Access Point can. The difference between a Hot Spot and an Access Point is a Hot Spot (like a smart phone for example) is sharing its WiFi internet connection while an Access Point is providing internet connectivity AND Local Area Networking (LAN) functionality. If this "router" has an internet connection, any device that connects to the "router" will also have internet connectivity. When you connect to a Hot Spot or an Access Point you are in effect connecting to a router. The difference between the two modes is significant. What you really need is a device that has Station Mode functionality as opposed to Hot Spot/Access Point functionality. ![]()
